The Wayfarer’s Handbook is a guide to the ins and outs of the dealings and events of the Wayfarers of Eorzea. It includes rules for both IC and OOC interactions, guidelines to how we run events, the standards we uphold, and an all-in-all reference guide for your you and your character. Because it is an IC item, it is broken down into IC and the OOC sections. Please note that while we do not expect all members to read this in its entirety, it is a requirement to read the guidelines section in order to join as a member of the Wayfarers of Eorzea. The following is listed and upheld in the best interest of our members as well as the members of the community. Please note that we reserve the right to add to, remove, or modify the Handbook at anytime, but all modifications will incur a 14 day grace period before becoming officially active. Thank you for your understanding.

General Information and Guidelines
“Always test Fate…Always...Never give up and never give in..Keep moving forward. It’s what makes us alive, and keeps us living.” Casmi Hawke
Mission Statement: To inspire hope and contribute to Eorzea [our community] as a positive, driving force to promote change, acceptance, and a better understanding of the world in which we all live in.
What is a Wayfarer?
A name that echos throughout Eorzea. A whisper at the market... a mention in every bar...But it only brings to question...What is a Wayfarer?
“A Wayfarer is more than just a title used to describe a member of our company. A Wayfarer of Eorzea is an Adventurer….but not even then are we so easily defined. We are friends, companions, rivals, Fathers, Mothers, brothers and sisters, family. We are a home for the outcasts, the rebels, the unfortunate, and the willing; the ones with the will to act and tempt fate, to push their limits beyond what the world has set for them. Those who will struggle and crawl through their darkest hours, not to rise alone, but to come to the aid of another...To both rise to each other’s feet, back to back, and stand arrogantly in the face of adversity. We are Wayfarers, and we will strive for a better future for ourselves and Eorzea." -L'rinhi Kett
The term Wayfarer means Traveler. While not all of members may travel throughout the world, it is the fundamental structure that helped found our small company. With the unforeseeable future ever changing, we act as a home for the homeless or those who generally have trouble finding their place in the world. This being said, a Wayfarer does not need to travel physically, but can be seen as the journey we each take moving through life.
Companionship, Love, Confidence, Respect, and Diligence are only a few of the traits that Wayfarers hold. As a result, we hold all members to our oath.
Be Respectful, Be Steadfast, Be Compassionate, and Be an Example. These four virtues are to be upheld at all times by all members. Failure to do so can result in a penalty or expulsion from our ranks.
Be Respectful. To respect others is our first and foremost rule, a keystone in the advancement of trust, understanding, the betterment of others, and you as a person to grow. While there will be arguments, we do not condone any member disrespecting another member, or non-member, in any fashion that might cause emotional or physical injury. This does not mean you are to be a pushover, but remember whom you represent and what you believe the best course would be.
Be Steadfast. Not something that is always easy when faced with adversity. Not only do we find problems from others in the world but we often find and harbor conflict within ourselves. To be Steadfast does not require one to never fail or fall even; nay, for we are all to have many low points within our lives. The difference is that you will have a family, those who care about you in every sense of the word, around you to help support and carry you through your hard times as you will carry them. Never give up on yourself, your friends, family, or the company, but continue to fight through the darkest of hours in order to continue your journey.
Be Compassionate. It takes a great deal of bravery to draw a sword in the midst of your enemy, ready to defend yourself and those around you, but it takes a braver main to know when to sheath it. Sometimes, fighting is an inevitable fate that cannot be avoided, but, in the instance that it can be, we encourage our members to find another way. Life is precious, something that cannot be bought or replaced through natural means and should be respected and treasured as such. Whether it be another member, a stranger, or, in some cases, and enemy, never be too quick to judge and consider offering a helping hand.
Be an Example. As members of the community, the company, and as a citizen of Eorzea itself, we promote the values that our company holds in an effort to be an example unto others so that they might find inspiration to better the world as well. There is no greater reward than having your actions and standards pave the way in someone else’s life. This is not to be taken lightly as every action and lack of action will be noticed by those around you and may shape their path in both a positive and negative way.
The overriding goal of the Wayfarers of Eorzea is to be a light in the world and provide comfort to those who may require succor. We watch out for our own and ensure those who fall within our purview are afforded the protection and service due to them. We are not attached to the service of a Grand Company, nor do we discourage aligning one’s self with such a group’s foreign levy.
Members of the Wayfarer’s of Eorzea shall hitherto conform to the following mandates:
Provide aid to those in need; the source of such antagonism need not sway you from your duties to help the sick and needy.
Act in a way befitting a Wayfarer and their duty. Maintain the integrity of the image of the Wayfarers of Eorzea.
The duties of the Wayfarer to the company should not conflict with the duties required by other allegiances. If they do, it is the Member’s responsibility to deal with the conflict in a manner they choose that maintains their ability to perform their duties to the Wayfarers.
The Wayfarers often receive requests from other companies and even the forces of the city-states of Eorzea to perform certain tasks. When on assignment, Wayfarer’s shall heed the following commandments in addition to the company mandates:
Pursue the assignment with all due diligence. Complete the tasks at hand, and do not leave loose ends. Pursue your mission with care, with minimal collateral damage and maximum efficacy.
During prolonged assignments, report all activities to the Matron and her designated seconds.
Take whatever means necessary to help those in aid. While the mission may be a priority, it does not excuse negligence regarding the Wayfarer’s Mandates.
When not on assignment, a Wayfarer’s time is their own, unless assigned duties by the Matron or officer. As such, they may pursue their desires, as long as it does not endanger the Wayfarers nor those under their wing, nor the public welfare at large. However, should another not of the company enter the bounds of the Wayfarer’s Rest property, any present should:
Afford the guest all due courtesy and respect;
Provide aid and succor where needed, within reason;
Should they need a place to rest for a night, show them to a spare room where they may rest.
Becoming a Wayfarer of Eorzea
Joining the Wayfarers in their effort to make a better world is one thing, but becoming a Wayfarer is something else altogether. A Wayfarer lives by the Codex and pushes not only themselves forward, but the company and its members around them. While we are a loving, carefree environment, this is something we value above all else for it is the core that brings our family together. To become a Wayfarer, one must show merit, loyalty, and interest in maintaining and upholding the Codex as well as take an Oath in a small ceremony.
The Induction Ceremony can consist of as few as two to three people, but will always require the presence of the Matron, the inductee, and at least one witness. This is the bare minimum that attends as the Matron will direct the ceremony, the witness, which can be an officer or any other Wayfarer, who can vouch for the ceremony, and Inductee who recites the Oath and agrees to the terms.
While it isn’t very long at all, the Ceremony itself is broken into several small parts that primarily revolves around the recital of the Oath. The Matron/Patron will teach what it means to be a Wayfarer and what is expected. The Codex and the conditions on which a Wayfarer may leave the company are explained and discussed; whereafter the inductee will recite the Oath. After acceptance is final and the ceremony concludes, the inductee will decide where they wish to have their symbol placed. While not required, we ask that members receive a tattoo of the Wayfarer’s symbol as a sign of loyalty and devotion; additionally, it aids in identifying one another in the field even if the two have never met.
((Soon to come.))
The Symbol of a Wayfarer and the Wayfarer’s Crest
Our company Crest has more meaning in it’s appearance, colors, and symbols than meets the eye. As with our stance on the world, our colors are black and white to symbolize that while we might agree with one side we might also agree with another; right and wrong are often perspective. We are neither light nor darkness, but a place to gain freedom from the judgement of the world as if a bird to the sky. Yet this does not mean signify that we resort to taking whatever we wish, as signified by the dove rising into the air. These things have become standards for how the public sees us and how we handle ourselves; a people who help others as we can regardless of if the world sees them as black or white, while maintaining peace at whatever the cost.
Job Opportunities in the Wayfarer’s of Eorzea
Being a Free Company that specializes in leve work, trading, and hosting an open tavern for the community, the Wayfarers have several avenues in which our members can earn a comfortable living. From domestic work as a waitress or maid to sailing the seas on our trade ship, we can find work for practically any skillset. This section lists only a few of the possibilities that are available to you while working with the Wayfarers.
The heart of Wayfarer’s Rest is the bar that has been shortened to “Wayfarer’s”. Hosted on Lightningday [Thursdays, though the recurrence of this event can vary], our company aims to please any and all who walk through our doors. Jobs range from waitressing, bartending, and hosting to security, performers, and even fighters for our Fight Nights.
If you are interested in working in our tavern and would like more information, please refer to the Wayfarer’s Section on page .
Wayfarer are meant to travel through the world, explore, solve the unthinkable, and do the undoable, but it doesn’t mean we do it for free. Where there is something new to explore and someone to protect, there is usually someone offering coin for those to take on these daunting tasks. While there are occasions where we will work without charging, the company will pay its members for their service.
Any contracts that have been collected will be posted on the leveboard within Wayfarer’s Rest. If you wish to partake in one of these outings, inform the Matron or one of the Officers that you are interested in a specific job and management will make it a priority to draw the attention of other members.
[While we use different systems for different events, some of these events play off of the Fate-14 system which combines in-game classes and abilities with a tabletop like structure and ruleset. More information about the Fate-14 system can be found in the Fate listing of our website.]
Developmental jobs are that we would like to see come to life and become available in our company, but require the dedication and effort of several members to bring to life. These might already be in the works or are barely more than a thought. If you have any desire to start one of these programs or lend aid, please contact an officer or the Matron/ Patron.
Brewery: We are well on our way to developing a brewery in the Rest
Engineering Bay: We would like to find more interested in the program to build, maintain, and regulate the airships and other creations.
Clinic: We’ve had one before and we’d like to have one again where people can be treated, recover, and do clinic like things.
Cafe: This would be an individual’s project to have a Cafe in one of the privates rooms to handle overflow of the tavern and run independant events.
Trade Shop: This would be an individual’s project to have a Trade Shop in one of the privates rooms to sell and trade goods to company members and strangers alike.
Crime & Punishment
There's an undeniable truth that all rules will inevitably be broken by someone. And while we are a caring and fun loving company, we expect our rules to be followed. Minor infractions will be handled on a case by case basis, however, repeated offenders will be subject to moderate, or even severe, punishment. These cases are discussed and judged by a committee of officers.
The council is a group of individuals chosen to the current Matron’s discretion whom are responsible for the continuity of the company and to ensure justice is carried out when issues arise. This is not a position that is held lightly, as we aim to uphold ourselves as people of peace and understanding rather than an organization who inhibits and restrains. In most cases, these sentences are minor, but a string of continued offenses can, and will, result in a temporary penalty such as confinement, suspension, and, in the most extreme cases, expulsion from the Wayfarers as a whole. While the council may deliberate in private, the accused has the right to defend themselves in a private meeting. It is at this time that reasons will be given to the accused for their sentence and what follows afterward.
Expulsion is the highest tier of punishment. Given only as a last resort to repeat offenders, or the most dire of circumstances, expulsion is the only means as an exception to the code of three, but only the third as we still ask that all members continue to better themselves and keep our privacy, in which the member that is removed from the company will no longer be affiliated with Wayfarers, however, this is decided by a case by case basis and not all members that are expelled are restricted from coming to Wayfarer’s Rest or keeping in contact with members.
Challenging a Decision
After the council has passed judgement, the accused may challenge the decision within three days of their sentencing. Challenging a decision is a means to present new evidence that was not previously known about or in hand at the time of the original deliberation. While this is an opportunity to correct a wrong judgement, it is not guaranteed to change the original verdict.
"Eorzea, a land of wonder, danger, and opportunity; An opportunity to change your Fate. Many have striven, fought, and died to protect it and its people. Dark times have fallen over our nations and darker times are sure to come. But hope, hope drives us onward. Hoping that day will finally come when we all may rest. The Wayfarers of Eorzea want to rekindle that hope that dwindles in our darkest hours. We welcome all who would come to Wayfarer's Rest. Tarry in good company, supplement with our fine dining, relax in our public bath, and rest in one of our cozy, fire lit rooms; And when the morrow comes, steel yourself for the conflict ahead and endure...Until your feet lead you to our doorstep again. We are the Wayfarers, and this is Wayfarer's Rest...This is a home to all."- L'rinhi Kett-
Wayfarer’s Rest is the home of the Wayfarer’s of Eorzea. Located on plot 58 of the 6th ward in the Goblet, the Rest is a place of refuge for both Wayfarers and strangers alike. With features galore, Wayfarer’s Rest is chock-full of commodities and amenities alike.
!The Rest Rules
The following rules are to be upheld in the Rest by all peoples, both members and non-members alike. Disobeying these rules can and will result in a temporary removal from the company grounds.
Anyone is welcome, but we ask that you remain courteous during their stay.
No fighting in the Rest, take it outside.
Layout and Commodities
Wayfarer’s Rest is made up of 5 primary sections:
Outside/The Yard: While many things on our property may change, there are a few things that will remain a staple in the company due to their necessity and convenience. One of the first things you will notice is the Chocobo Stables. Feel free to stable your chocobo here at anytime during your stay, but we do ask that you tidy the place up from time to time. You’ll also find a Mogmail box where we receive Mogmail from the moogles. The Wayfarers are not responsible for anything that is lost during shipping. Finally, our friendly merchant O’aka has set up shop on the side of the Rest. He’ll be glad to see you a trinket or two if you pay him a visit; additionally, all proceeds to directly to the Company’s Funds.
Upper Level: When you first walk through the doors into Wayfarer’s Rest, you will be greeted with a cozy, hearth lit lounge. While this is a waiting area for customers normally, it is actually a homey lounge for the members of the company. Feel free to do business with your retainers at the desk, or possibly store your goods in the Armoire. If that doesn’t suit you, grab a book, sink into the comfy sofa, and enjoy a few hours in front of the fireplace.
Basement: Upon descending into the Basement, you’ll enter the tavern area known we call Wayfarer’s. While there is an abundance to describe, we’ll only note the key points such as the Bar, the Company Chest, the Main Stage, Fish Tank, and the Orchestrion. Members of the company may drink their fill in at our bar free of charge. While one could abuse this privilege, we ask that everyone take it into moderation. When a member notices that we are low in stock after a night of heavy drinking, please inform an officer so that we can schedule a delivery before the stock runs out.
Company Workshop: The workshop is where all the designing, planning, and assembly of our R&D projects. While there is currently no head of our workshop, and it is currently unused, it is still fully functional with several airships still at our disposal.
Personal Rooms: Entering into the rear section of the house will give you access to the personal rooms. These rooms are not only the homes of our member but also consists of several public rooms, company rooms, and the office of the Matron herself. If a door is locked, please respect the privacy of others.
Making your own section in Wayfarers with your room
If a member so chooses, they may open a small shop, cafe, business, etc. to the public through the use of their private room. This can either be completely independent to the Wayfarers or part of the company itself. If a member chooses the latter, approval must be had from the Matron or another officer. Even with approval, these rooms are still subject to the rules and regulations set for the Rest.
The first room you’ll find in the back hallway, is the door to the Matron’s Office. This room, when unlocked, is open to all people who would seek an audience or who would wish to discuss a private matter with the Matron. If this door is locked, please wait until another time.
This is where most formal meetings, trials, and public discussions occur and serves as our library. This room is open for use to all members.
This is where Wayfarer’s Select is brewed and stored along with other drinks, food, and supplies. Please sign in and sign out as you come and go and manage inventory as you remove goods from storage.
Wayfarer’s Cafe(Quiet Room)
Our bar can get busy fairly quickly, and on our big nights it can be a struggle for our customers to hear what is being said by us or their peers/company. This is an overflow room to give customers a place of refuge.
O’aka is our head of trade in the Wayfarers and provides goods to members and visitors for a moderate price. While he may not always have the lowest price, O’aka donates the profits to the company itself to help maintain the services and events ran by the company. On occasion, O’aka might request help with the acquisition of his goods that provides us with a discount.
Working at Wayfarer’s
Wayfarer’s Rest has always doubled as not only a refuge for our members, but also a bar known under the same name, now simplified to ‘Wayfarer’s’ however. The Wayfarer’s concept is that anyone thirsty for a drink or hungry for a meal can walk in our doors and satisfy their needs at anytime members of the company are available. Additionally, this provides work and pay for the more passive members who don’t specialize in combat or adventuring. Over the course of time, Wayfarer’s has grown past being a simple bar to a full blown business in hosting social events such as bar nights, singles nights, and several contests. From being a friendly bar, we have expanded into producing, distributing, and serving our own brand of beer and ale. It is our mission to provide a safe environment for our guests while creating a unique and personal experience that will keep them coming back for moons to come.
With the various events that take place from week to week there are a variety of jobs to choose from when it comes to working at Wayfarer’s. The following is a short summary and breakdown of each position and what is expected when performing in these roles.
Bartenders tend to the bar and rarely leave their positions while the tavern itself is open. In most cases, patrons won’t be too shy in walking up and ordering a drink, but feel free to welcome those who look indecisive and strike up conversation. Overall, a bartender’s job is to provide quality service to the patrons and keep them company throughout the event. We recommend you focus on patrons who are by themselves over those who are sitting among friends.
Waitresses and Waiters are the men and women who roam the bar floor, hop table to table, socialize with guests, and take and deliver orders. From drinks to full course meals, waitress is the most taxing job there is while working at Wayfarer’s. Waitresses must keep a polite and welcoming demeanor at all times and if any conflict arises feel free to call security. The primarily role is providing our menu to guests, taking their orders, and presenting them with their drinks or meals with a memorable experience.
The Hostess greets guests as they walk in and maintains a sense of order in the crowd as they wait to be seated. During certain nights, Hostesses may sit guests themselves or simply let them pick their own table. While this is the most simplistic of the work loads, they are responsible for the waitresses and keeping things moving. Manners are key in this position.
Security is lax in most situations, but must be on their guard at all times. Weapons are not allowed in the Rest and guards posted throughout the building are to keep guests within the grounds of the event and also respond to any disturbance calls. While we may resort to throwing an unruly guest out, we never resort to killing or maiming; use appropriate force.
From singers to dancers, Wayfarer’s is the home to new and experienced performers alike as we are always looking to serve as a venue for regulars and a starting stage for beginners. As a performer, it’s up to you to entice the crowd and keep the night moving smoothly. More information can be found in the Entertainer section as well as rules and expectations.
The Wayfarer’s Cafe is a subsidiary of Wayfarer’s and is opened to the public who are looking for a more close and personal setting with a peaceful atmosphere. We do our best to keep this room so quiet that the only thing you will hear is the waitress/waiter’s footsteps. Guests are to keep the noise to a minimum here and only speak out when the waiter/waitress addresses them.
Additionally, this also serves as a wing of the restaurant and the same menu is available to guests here as well.
[Quiet Room Procedures]
While all the normal rules of the Rest apply here, the Cafe is also known as the quiet room. The quiet room is a place where parties and couples can go to avoid the chat scroll. All interactions are done within their own party or when ordering from the waitress. This gives people who are looking for a more personal outing a private space to enjoy our hospitality without the spam, but this also means they have to already know who they are bringing or have met them that night in the bar area before whisking them somewhere quieter to get to know them better.
Company Uniform/Dress Code
Upon becoming a Wayfarer, you are provided a Company Tabard dyed to our colors for no charge. While it is not necessary to be worn at all times, we ask that you do not dye it another color. You will be asked to wear this, with the appropriate attire to match, during certain FC functions such as Tavern Nights and formal gatherings such as a Wayfarer initiation or a taking of the Oath.
Our uniform colors are Black and White, similar to our company crest, and usually keep a sense of formality, I.E. no plate armor or torn, ragged pants. Whether you wear pants, a skirt, or the occasional piece of armor, depending on the person’s role at the time, is up to you, as long as they are pitch black or pure white. Similar can be said about footwear as long as it looks presentable and keeps to our color scheme. Jewelry, gloves, hats, and other accessories are also allowed. Additionally, if a member has access to it, we would prefer them to have the company crest applied to the tabard.
Guests who work for us temporarily may borrow a uniform from the Company Chest to work that night, but must return it the following morning in the same condition they received it in the previous day; washed and pressed.
Our ever growing menu is one of the things we pride ourselves upon at Wayfarer’s. With a complete menu of entrees and desserts from numerous regions of the world, we strive to provide only the best meal for our patrons. These will normally be kept at the hostess desk in the case that you need one to provide to a customer.
If you have a request to add something to the menu, please feel free to submit a request form to us found on the company board.
Whether you are working at the time or not, we ask that all members of our company in attendance to please show our guests the utmost respect as if this were their home as well during the events held. While there is no doubt times when being rude or blunt is necessary, we ask that you try to refrain from this as much as possible.
If you are working, try to remain attentive to guests and if you need a break to do something please let us know and retreat to one of the private rooms while you handle anything you need to.
[Whether it be IC, OOC, or something IRL alike. Please feel free to step aside but please give us a notice.]
Singers, Dancer, Theater Troupes, Magicians, and so on, the world needs entertainer’s and we admire the dedication these talented men and women bring to the stage each and every night they do it. And with that, Wayfarer’s stage is always open to any performer of the sorts that is within the means of being tasteful, and on some occasions not even that. With that in mind, the follow section is a brief overview of what to expect and what is expected.
Signing up for a gig
Getting into the Wayfarer’s isn’t terrible hard as all we require entertainers to do is fill out a short information sheet and read over our rules and policies while attending. Whether it is a guest entertainer, fighter, or even a waitress, all non company members must follow company rules while working for us. Failing to uphold these rules can result in refusal of service at later events.
Please keep your performance within the time frame allotted. There is a chance no one else will be on the card for you to share the stage with or it could be packed. You will be notified at the start of the event who else is playing and if you need to leave time for the other performers.
Please be on time. This is a gimme really, if you sign up to perform at a certain time please show up at that time. We understand if things come up but please give us notification in advance.
Days we are Open
We normally open on every other Lightningday [Thursday] though this is subject to change with holidays and the frequency of popularity.
The Bar and Opening It
As we are only open on several days of the week throughout the month, it is quite possible that there are other nights someone might walk in and a member might want to open the bar and serve them. This is perfectly acceptable and encouraged.
